The Governing Board of EELISA European University meets in Italy to outline new steps towards the transformation of the European Higher Education Area. This second face-to-face Governing Board Meeting will be held in Pisa on the 21- 22nd april, 2022

This second face-to-face Governing Board Meeting will be held in Pisa on the 21- 22nd april, 2022 and will coincide in time and location with the EELISA student representatives and the EELISA Executive Board meetings. All the events will be hosted by Scuola Normale Superiore and Sant’Anna School (Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna). The meetings will open on Wednesday, 20 April with the innoCORE Strategic meeting and the EELISA Student Council at Scuola Normale Superiore and will continue in the same location on Thursday, 21 with the Governing Board and the Executive Board meetings and parallel presentations of the projects dedicated to Scuola Normale Superiore and Sant’Anna School students and faculty. The event will close on Friday 22 at Sant’Anna School.

The Rectors, Directors and President of the nine universities of the Alliance (Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Istanbul Technical University, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, École des Ponts Paristech, PSL Université Paris (Mines & Chimie Paristech), Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Scuola Normale Superiore and Sant’Anna School, representatives from the EELISA academic, students and staff communities and external stakeholders along with the Vice-president of associate partner ENAEE, the non-executive EELISA President, Dale A. Martin, and the Executive Director of the Alliance, Sofia D’Aguiar, will be part of this important meeting that aims to evaluate the achievements of the alliance so far as well as to define the strategic lines regarding four key topics:

·         how to boost the international experience and mobility within the alliance.

·         How to foster a more diverse, equal and inclusive university ecosystem.

·         How to strengthen the connection between the university and society.

·         The definition of the profile of the future European engineer.

During this meeting, the students will have a key role. They will present the results of the EELISA Speak-out consultation campaign co-designed with students of the alliance and launched on the 6th of April, 2022.  Developed mainly through social media, the goal of this consultation has been to collect the perspectives and voices of EELISA students regarding these strategic topics.

With a network of more than 180,000 students16,000 faculty and 11,000 staff members, EELISA is part of the European Universities Initative and  aims to foster a new generation of engineers and professionals who will be able to align smart technology with sustainable needs in order to tackle contemporary global challenges.
